Fighting Identity Theft

from Quorum Insurance

Feb 22, 2019

According to the 2017 Norton Cyber Security Insights Report, 44% of consumers surveyed were impacted by cybercrime in the prior 12 months. Here are just a few ways you can reduce your risk of identity theft:

1) Create "strong" passwords with numbers, upper and lower-case letters, and symbols. Also, consider using a phrase that consists of a string of words and symbols that is easy for you to remember.

2) Use different passwords for work and personal email accounts, bank accounts and online retailers.

3) Never use easily discovered or guessed information for a password, i. e. the last four digits of your Social Security number, your maiden name, birth date, pet's name.

4) Don't record passwords on anything you carry with you - including your cell phone.

5) Never access online bank accounts via public Wi-Fi networks or computers.
