If your student is heading off to college for the first time this year make sure he or she is familiar with the Freshman 15, (and I’m not talking about those pesky pounds that can come from a new diet of junk food). Here’s a list of things they should know before leaving home, or at least start to work on once they are settled in on campus:

  • Do laundry
  • Prepare quick meals and healthy snacks
  • Create and live on a  budget
  • Safe money and spend wisely
  • Build credit
  • Open a savings account
  • Pay bills
  • Change a tire
  • Stock a first-aid kit
  • Keep personal and academic records safe
  • Find and use campus resources
  • Mange time and stress
  • Take safety measures when walking alone
  • Stick to a study schedule
  • Converse with professors
